About Remarkable Structures
It’s more than designing buildings, structures, walls and frames. A great architect can design environments, inside and out, to enhance a person’s work, well-being and experiences. For over twenty five years, I’ve approached projects with people, places and spaces in mind and an ambitious spirit at heart.
How can I help a client become more efficient, more effective and more comfortable? How may my work inspire theirs? It starts with a vision. My passion, curiosity and ambition drives me to create unique environments that reflect the vision of my clients. Innovation is the direct result of understanding my clients’ goals, building types, design context and budget considerations so I make sure our process is collaborative. Like my work, I expect my relationships with clients and vendors to stand the test of time. Ultimately, I measure our success by the client’s satisfaction with the end product – their vision realized.
Story
Remarkable Structures tell Remarkable Stories
I really believe that a house can tell you — owner, occupant, visitor, passerby, me — how it wants/needs to be.
I know this because I’ve encountered this phenomenon countless times in my work, and have let it guide us – client, me – forward toward establishing that imperative, visual and emotive language of volume and spaces, in the creation of truly remarkable structures.
Sure. It’s easy to make decisions on the big things — layout, tile, appliances, etc. — but when you let a building or any space speak to you, and really connect with it, so much more is possible. Maybe ‘form over function’ is your motto – but what if you really want both, and the space is perfect for it? Maybe you’re coming off decades of purging older pieces from your life, but a corner or your new living room is crying out for that one piece that you’ve been unable to part with, due to its substantive significance to you, that sits languishing in storage, waiting to be pulled and be gloriously reinstated.
Perhaps a connection with a building is already there, it has already spoken to you and this, what we are crafting to make more your own, is to be integrally intertwined with all that is new. Those stories, that connections and the fabric of the existing building will become as paramount in our renovation design language as your new chapters are to be.
Sometimes letting a structure or space be part of its own design process will mean (deliberately) not planning or designing everything in advance. Sound crazy? Possibly. But letting time and the lived experience in a space show the way to lasting, authentic, and truly inspired design ideas is the secret door to the remarkable — a door that, once open, reveals a private world where everything just looks and feels right.
